Courtnie & Taylor | Gardens at Old Town Helotes Wedding
It was truly an honor to document Courtnie and Taylor’s Gardens at Old Town Helotes wedding. I’ve had the privilege of knowing Courtnie for years through Sotomayor High School, where she has been my daughter’s dance team coach for nearly four years, and I’ve been fortunate to work with her and the girls along the way. So when Courtnie asked me to be the one behind the camera on her wedding day, it meant more than just photographing another wedding. Getting to be there for such an important moment in the life of someone I’ve known for so long—and to see her surrounded by so much love, friendship, and family—was incredibly special.
Before the Ceremony
The morning of Courtnie and Taylor’s wedding was filled with all the little moments that make a wedding day feel personal. Courtnie spent the morning surrounded by her girls in the beautiful bridal suite at Gardens at Old Town Helotes, where the soft natural light made everything feel even more beautiful.
Courtnie gifted each of her bridesmaids Kendra Scott jewelry to wear for the wedding, a thoughtful detail that made getting ready together even more special. Between hair, makeup, laughter, and those quieter moments in between, there was so much excitement building for the day ahead.
Emotional Moments
And then came the moments that really got everyone emotional. Courtnie shared a beautiful first look with her dad, followed by an emotional reveal with her bridesmaids. There were plenty of smiles, happy tears, and hugs before everyone headed out to begin the ceremony.
These are the moments I love documenting most—the ones that happen before the music starts and before everyone takes their places, when the people closest to the couple get to simply be together and take it all in.
Reception space
Walking into the reception space at Gardens at Old Town Helotes, it was clear that every detail had been thoughtfully chosen. The gorgeous blue and pastel color palette carried throughout the space, creating a look that felt elegant, romantic, and perfect for a summer wedding.
Cene with Bluebonnet Fields Floral brought everything together beautifully with stunning floral arrangements that added color, texture, and that extra wow factor to the reception. From the tablescapes to the floral details, everything worked together so seamlessly.
The result was a reception space that was not only beautiful in person, but absolutely dreamy to photograph. And honestly, these flowers deserved to be photographed from every angle.

Ceremony Florals
A Ceremony Filled With Love
The ceremony was filled with some of the most heartfelt moments of the day. Before Courtnie walked down the aisle, the bridesmaids and groomsmen each placed a flower on a chair reserved in the front row beside Taylor’s mom, creating a beautiful tribute to all of the loved ones who were no longer able to be there to celebrate with them. It was a simple but incredibly meaningful way to honor their memory and include them in such an important moment.
Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for—Courtnie walking down the aisle with her dad. Surrounded by their closest family and friends, gorgeous blue and pastel summer florals, and so much love, the ceremony was filled with genuine emotion, happy tears, and incredibly sweet moments. It was truly an honor to be there to document it all.
With the soft blues, pretty pastels, and lush summer florals, it truly looked like the perfect summer wedding ceremony at Gardens at Old Town Helotes—and Courtnie walking down the aisle in her gorgeous, Disney-princess-worthy dress made the moment even more magical.
Family portraits were a true Texas summer adventure, with temperatures soaring into the triple digits, but everyone—including the adorable flower girl and ring bearer—braved the heat to capture these sweet family memories.
Their wedding party was made up of the people who have been part of their story through childhood, adulthood, and all the chapters in between. Choosing the friends and loved ones who have stood by them throughout the years made these wedding party portraits feel even more meaningful—and there was definitely no shortage of laughter and personality.
We stole a few beautiful moments with the girls before the ceremony, stepping outside for just long enough to capture some gorgeous portraits in the August heat. A little Texas sunshine and a lot of laughter made for some seriously beautiful images.
Just the Two of Them
After the ceremony, we took a little time for just Courtnie and Taylor to soak it all in and capture some beautiful portraits around Gardens at Old Town Helotes. Despite the August heat, these two were absolute troopers, and every bit of that Texas sunshine made their wedding portraits worth it..
The little details of their day were just as meaningful, from their gorgeous wedding bands and simple, elegant invitation to the beautiful florals by Bluebonnet Fields Floral. One of my favorite details was the Kendra Scott necklace gifted to Courtnie by the dance team as her “something blue”—such a sweet reminder of the special bond she shares with those girls.
One of the sweetest moments came during Courtnie’s dance with her dad. After their dance, her dad took his seat and a new song began—and Courtnie invited her best friend, her momma, onto the dance floor to share a special mother-daughter dance.
The speeches were filled with so much love and laughter, with heartfelt words from the maid of honor, best man, Courtnie’s brother, and Taylor’s sister. But then came a surprise that no one was prepared for—a message played over the speakers from Courtnie’s best friend, who couldn’t be there in person because she is courageously fighting cancer. Her beautiful message to Courtnie had the entire room in tears, and it was one of those unforgettable moments that made the day feel even more meaningful.
Courtnie and Taylor’s first dance was such a sweet, heartfelt moment, filled with quiet smiles and so much love. It was the perfect way to begin celebrating their new life together.
And that twirl factor! Courtnie’s gorgeous dress moved perfectly around her as she danced, giving her the full Disney-princess moment she had envisioned.
THEN, of course, you can’t have a San Antonio wedding without some Bill Miller Bar-B-Q! Dinner was served up by this local San Antonio staple, giving everyone plenty of Texas flavor before the dancing and celebrating continued.
And then… the party officially started! Each table came over for a quick photo with the newlyweds before the dance floor opened up—and once the music started, there was no slowing this crew down!
It was a party filled with fun, laughter, and plenty of celebration, and with a bride and groom bringing that much energy, excitement, and love to the dance floor, there was no question this party was going to TURN UP!
And what better way to end a beautiful summer wedding than with a grand exit in a Rolls-Royce! Courtnie and Taylor made their getaway in true newlywed style, surrounded by their friends and family cheering them on as they headed off to begin their next chapter together.
A pretty perfect ending to a pretty perfect day.
It was truly an honor to document Courtnie and Taylor’s wedding day and to be trusted with so many of the moments that made it uniquely theirs. From the quiet morning moments to the emotional ceremony, the laughter, the dancing, and that unforgettable Rolls-Royce exit, every part of their day was filled with so much love and personality.
I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have been there to capture it all, and I’ll always cherish the years of memories I’ve shared with Courtnie and the girls. Some people come into your life through unexpected places, and getting to watch someone you’ve known for years begin such a beautiful new chapter is a pretty special thing.
